Originally worked out as a trade off between Dead Famous and iBreaks, Dead Famous label head honchos, the Robosapiens took the daunting task of re-writing Digital Base's "White Line". The original is absolute Digital Base tech-funkery, and the 'Sapiens have taken that vibe, and completely run it through their own personal acid grinder. Driven by a dark and dirty vibe, White Line takes the listener on a journey that is 100% pure Dead Famous - twisted, mental, and more acid than done at a festival in Summer. This is definitely something for those that like their vibe mangled.

The flip sees the Robosapiens deliver their first new original tune in quite a while. Robots, while very typical of the quality and vibe that you would expect from Jamie and Steve, dwelves into a thicker territory than you would normally expect. A completely fat bassline drives this monster, taking twists and turns down the dark alleyways from your mind to your feet. This is one of those tunes that when you hear on a big system, will blow your mind. Literally.

We are excited to kick off 2009 with a bang, and think this release will do just that. Watch this space for new and exciting slabs of techfunkery from loads of artists you might not expect from Dead Famous. It's no secret that we at Dead Famous HQ love acid drenched music. Long is the time that over 50% of dance music that was released was heavily helped by the Roland 303. Lately, there are a number of labels really trying to push the acid sound that was so prevalent 15 years ago, and as many of you know, Dead Famous is one of them. In the spirit of bringing it back, we\\'re holding a contest all centered around, you guessed it - ACID.

We at Dead Famous are looking for new acid producers, The prize? We're offering a release with Dead Famous Recordings to the producer who turns us in the best acid inspired tune. That said, while we are breakbeat focused, by no means do all entries have to be breaks. We encourage everything from house and breaks, to techno, or dubstep - whatever! The only rule is that it must use acid. How much is up to the producer, but it must be present. Between us, and a few other great labels, we are all working hard to bring this sound back to the forefront...and discard a few brain cells along the way.

*The winner's tune will see a release on Dead Famous Recordings over the next year.

*All entries must be sent to us in 320 format by September 30th, 2009. Please email entries to brokenbeatnik [at] yahoo [dot] com

*All genres welcome - but note the types of music we release. While you may like your 180 bpm acid gabber tune, the chances of us releasing it are not great.

*Entries are allowed to contain known material, however - we\\'re not trying to release a bootleg here, so use discretion, and be clever about how you do it. (we understand that sometimes things just fit in context), No Lady Gaga remixes with heaps of acid, please.

*All entries must contain acid. In what form, and how much is up to the producer, but the more it melts our face off, the better a chance you have.

And now for free music. We're big fans of giving back to the people that have supported Dead Famous over the years, and for that reason, have decided to give away the Ghosts in the Machine bootleg of dj Shadow's "Stereo" from a few years back that up till now was only available on vinyl. We will be making a habit of giving back to everyone in the form of free music in the coming months, so definitely watch this space.

We at Dead Famous love contests. Last year, we ran both a remix contest for DHD’s “Scene” and an original Acid Contest (Won by Dekoy and Prato , respectively). Obviously being addicted to these types of things, and seeing as how psybreaks are gaining more popularity as time goes on, we’re holding a remix contest for LuQas’s “Replicant”.

LuQas made a big splash in the psybreaks scene last year, and unfortunately, no remixes of Replicant ever saw the light of day. This is where you all come in. We’re looking for the best remix of Replicant to include on a future Dead Famous release. All styles are welcome, but like always, keeping with the vibe of Dead Famous is key – ie: Drum and bass and head crushing hardcore are cool and all, but your chances aren’t as great. If you pay attention to Dead Famous, you know exactly the kind of sound we love. Note that there are no second and third places here – Winner takes the chance to be included on a future package.

We at Dead Famous are celebrating 35 releases, and can't think of a better way to do so than focusing on multiple things we love all combined into one package - Breaks, techno, house, acid, and new artists (the key element here!). The original here sees recent newcomer Home Alone, who's been making fans galore among the breaks community with his blend of face melting techno and breaks. Between the funky vibe, and the cheeky sample, there's no lack of drive to this tune, and we at Dead Famous HQ can see it destroying rooms for quite some time.

On the flip, we've enlisted Beatsmack, who you may not have heard of yet, but trust and beleive it's a name you'll be hearing loads of soon. Having already signed to Miles Dyson's Plasmapool imprint, These guys have delivered a whopper of a breaks remix that's both chunky and blistering, with a massive dose of acid filth. There isnt a lot of breaks tunes coming out right now that cater to this sound in quite the way they've done it, and we love it so much we've already drafted them for a future remix. These gents have an amazing future ahead of them, and we've gotten on the boat early.
