Yes yes you lucky people, it's time to announce the first release for Broken Robot - two tracks from the undisputed master of psychedelic breakbeat: Rex

Anybody who has been involved in the breaks scene for any length of time will know that Rex releases don't come along very often, and that each one is something very special. His uniquely deep, luscious psychedelic sound and relentlessly techy grooves ooze a level of quality which few artists can match. First up is Evil Buddha Comb - this has all the hallmarks of the classic Rex tunes we know and love - a deep, dark journey through sonic space which twists and turns in ways you'd never have thought possible. There are no “big drops” here – instead this tune hypnotises the dance floor and enthrals the listener. A truly psychedelic masterpiece! On the flip we have Atom Smasher – a much more melodic track which serves as the perfect antidote to the darkness of Evil Buddha Comb. Dreamy pads and melodic synths are underpinned by a razor sharp beat and a trademark Rex bassline, creating a track which is both emotive and infectiously funky. Evil Buddha Comb and Atom Smasher will be available as a digital download from the usual outlets from the 6th April 2009

We receive a lot of music here at Broken Robot towers, but every now and again a real gem drops in our inboxes. Message From Dread is once such Gem - coming at us from a previously unknown artist from Southampton who goes by the name of Mr Snook. Quite frankly, this tune islike nothing we’ve heard before - the pounding kick and snare and electro-style sliding bassline are intertwined with choppy edits and ingenious sample manipulation to create a result that is as fresh as it is energetic.

As if that wasn’t enough, on the flip Snook turns in an equally good double A side. I Will Move The Earth takes its title from the catchy vocal hook, which is combined with a powerful breakbeat and trademark electro bass to create a track which is reminiscent of early Nu-Skool Breaks, whilst remianing every bit as fresh as the A Side.

es yes people, the next BROKEN ROBOT release has finally touched down on BEATPORT. This one features Broken Robot's very own NEURODRIVER, who has teamed up with Brighton's ATOMIC DROP to bring you a brand new slab of electro-house fatness.

WHAT YOU GONNA DO? is a tune of two halves: the first a progressive techy groove which woos the dancefloor into a false sense of security. This doesn't last long however before the
main breakdown kicks in, introducing the vocal hook from which the tune takes its name, before launching into a monstrously fat second drop which is guaranteed to make clubbers pull faces and throw shapes whenever it's played out. Huge!!

On remix duties we have called in none other than Sheffield's finest: Kickflip. His awesome breaks remix of Sam Hell's Logjammin' absolutely smashed it last Autumn, and by golly gosh we do think he's gone and done it again! Whilst staying faithful to the original, Bob has put a decidedly moodier spin on the track, set to a pounding rocky beat for those that prefer their rhythms a little more broken. Big!!
